Cocktails for the Big Game

Posted:

Bartenders from all over Maine have come up with some delicious mixed-drinks inspired by our favorite team and its players. From the complex (dare we say strategic?) Belichick cocktail to the stylish Edelman-tini, and let's not forget the G.O.A.T., #12 (don't worry, no avocado mousse here) we've got a team of cocktails ready for Sunday night!

G.O.A.T. Shandy

Directions:

Try this G.O.A.T. Shandy by Meagan Kaarto at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport, Maine for the next big game!

Shake tequila and cucumber juice with ice and pour into a tall glass, fill with beer and garnish with cucumber slice and sprinkle of celery salt.

The Belichick

The Belichick

Ingredients:

Directions:

This Belichick Cocktail was created by the Rivalries Sports Bar in Portland, ME. You have to plan well for this drink, just like our favorite coach for every game, and infuse the bourbon for at least 24 hours before you mix this.

STEP 1: INFUSE BOURBON WITH COFFEE AND FIG

Add the coffee and the figs to the liter of bourbon and let it infuse for 24 hours. Strain bourbon through coffee filters.

STEP 2: MAKE BROWN SUGAR SIMPLE SYRUP

Combine the sugar with 1 cup water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool.

STEP 3: MIX THE BELICHICK COCKTAIL

Muddle cherry, orange slice, simple syrup and bitters in a big rocks glass. Add ice and then the bourbon. Stir for 20 seconds then add a little more ice and top with soda water.

The Edelman-tini

Ingredients:

Directions:

This take on the classic Cosmo is suped up by Bruno's in Portland, ME in honor of one of our favorite players. On the field he's got the moves, and off the field he's pure style, just like the Cosmopolitan. To mix this drink add the vodka, juices and Cointreau to a shaker full of ice and shake hard. Rim a chilled martini glass with sugar by gliding an orange slice around the edge and then dipping in sugar. Strain the shaker into the glass, and pouring over the back of a spoon, float the blue curacao into the cocktail to end with the red, white and blue.

The Half-Time Show
